Top Squirt Teams in the Area?
Topic: April 29, 2021, 01:29:35 PM
Hello,
I am trying to get a feel for the top Squirt teams in the PA/NJ area, all the tryouts are complete i am sure. Would love to hear feedback on some of the talent on the 2011 birth year. Anybody hearing anything?

What levels are you talking about? Tier one or just in general? Pretty easy to see results from last year. Should be on par with that with maybe a surprise or two.

At the 2011 birth year I think it’s gonna be LVP and PHC. LVP was  strong last year and PHC is basically the Flyers Elite team from last year with a couple of best PHC 2011’s. Royals and Genesis 2011 AA teams should also be pretty good. Just my opinion.

Squirt talent?  Are you kidding me?  People like you typify  exactly what’s wrong with youth hockey. Tryouts, travel teams and  the ludicrously named “elite” hockey should be banned below bantams. This idiocy only exists to sucker parents like you into spending money on mere dreams aspirations.

I say this with no disrespect as we are talking about 10 year olds but how did you come up with a Genesis 2011 AA team?  They don’t even have a squirt AA team.

NJ Colonials, Avs, and Titans are all good as well.  The top 3 teams at 2011 AAA next year are likely to be LVP, NJC, and PHC.

Is this seriously a real discussion? Youth hockey has actually devolved to measuring 10 years olds talent? Half or more of those kids will never play AA or AAA by the time they hit 13 years old and many of them will have quit. And the parents of the ones who are playing A hockey after 13 will be blaming the coaches who evaled them or the associations who didn't put them on the top teams. MY KID PLAYED AAA SQUIRTS! Coach will laugh and say so what.

Yep...  Thank all of the overpaid staff at USA Hockey for the pathetic state of the sport in this country....  Guess they are too busy coming up with idiotic rules like no icing on a PK....

First of all no one said these kids are going to the NHL. Have you seen them play? Done any research. Go look at NHL rosters and see what those kids did when they were Squirts. I think you will be surprised. The attrition rate for players who played in Brick and at a high level is very low contrary to what everyone thinks. There are some teams in the district that are at that level. It doesn't mean anything other than that if they continue to track at that pace they will likely have a good amount of their players get to play very high levels of hockey.  I do agree however that doesn't apply to all AAA teams. There are lots who just buy the third A. Top teams in the district don't.

As for who is top I would agree. LVP, NJ Colonials are the top two and not far behind is Avs and PHC. PHC will be interesting as they made a move and changed some pieces. Those 4 teams will all likely be inside the top 20 in the country.

As for AA its a crap shoot. You would have to know if any AA teams had a high concentration of 2011 players on their roster. I can tell you the drop off last year from the true Tier 1 teams to Squirt AA was very big.

And again no one is touting their kid is going to the NHL. Just watch the top teams. They have kids that are legit if they keep with it. The district often puts kids in Major Junior, CHL and USHL, NAHL, top prep schools, and even guys play pro. Check out where those guys played when they were younger.
