So I am a 2nd year manager, 1st year midget manager playing in NJYHL and EJ.  Just got our schedule and our last game is scheduled for January 11th, 2020.  We scheduled a travel tournament late Feb, which I am now thinking might have been a mistake. because if we are no good, we have a whole lot of nothing i Jan and Feb.  EJ playoffs are last week of Jan and NJ usually early March.  What has been everyone's experience?  Do other midget teams, in my case, 16U A bail in Jan and Feb?  Or only the ones who make playoffs continue to play?

Well if I were your teams coach and players I would feel disrespected to start. They haven't even played yet and you are thinking the team could be bad. That aside I always schedule our teams non league games in between the last tournament so they stay active. Most of them are probably playing school anyways and the last tournament should be for fun.

welcome to the stupid world of NJYHL midgets .....there should not be a short season, the reason for it is the stupid north jersey coaches not allowing their players to play travel and HS at the same time.........clue phone no NJ player has ever been discovered at a HS game and its just a waste of time

Check with your players because a lot of them go over to the DVHL and get roster spots before the lock so they can keep playing when their short season ends.
