john graves VP of high school hockey?
Topic: May 31, 2018, 09:16:45 AM
How is this guy allowed to sit on the board of AAHA executives much less as VP overseeing high school hockey? With everything this clown has done with Quakers hockey to ruin that program he should be in jail for trying to extort money.

I don’t like what they did to the Quakers either, but one does not have anything to do with the other.

Quakers are a travel club team, which plays in the DVHL, which has already denied (at least for now) adding Team Philadelphia to their league.

Graves has been actively involved in the governance of the scholastic leagues.  Since Ice Hockey is not a sanctioned sport for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), it is a club sport, and the Eastern Penn. Interscholastic Hockey Association (EPIHA) and Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL), are run by guys like JG who run the rinks where the games are played.  So he’s President on the ICSHL and VP of EPIHA.  He also coached in the league for many years, so he’s had a long standing position as one of the people who has helped support youth hockey in this area, which is also why he’s on the board for district.  Smart of him to be involved on all these governance board as I’m sure it benefits Ice Line in the long run, especially with having tournaments being played there.

The rink owners, especially the ones with large facilities have a lot of influence, it also happens that they have a lot of ice to sell and they benefits from all those teams playing at their rink.

All a big part of the reason why the whole system is so corrupt.  The guys who own the ice run the game - if you don’t like it, I guess you can go build your own rink, which is what the Quakers now have to do.  Yes, they will probably survive, but with a single sheet, they cannot field as many teams, unless they rent ice elsewhere.

Mr. Graves made the rink lease so incredibly impossible for the Quakers to not only exist as a hockey club, but also at a point where they'd have to increase their tuition by twice, possibly even 3 fold in order to meet the expectation of their agreement to remain mildly functional. Make no doubt about it, Graves is a dirty, underhanded human being who stole the a long standing DVHL club from out under their feet. He should've called his new tier ll division "Team Quakers West" because they're all Quakers players and coaches.

holding the quakers hostage with an impossible lease and merchandising agreement isn't exactly the professional way of treating a long standing tenant.

He owns the rink. Why does it matter? The bills are paid by John Graves, he decides who plays there and who doesn't.
