Same Level Teams

Im curious why so many organizations have two teams at the same levels ( u12AA ones labeled white, ones labeled black) up and down from 12u-18u, across many organizations.

Shouldn’t AA be designated to one? Or is that just the parents complaining little johnny/suzy belongs on the AA team? If that’s the case those teams will not be happy when they lose their games 11-0

It's just like AAA having A & AA players on the team. Everyone wants the extra A for they can pound their chest and say my kid is playing AA/AAA. in reality all it does is hurt hockey at all levels, the trickle down is real. We need less AAA teams in the area to make true AAA teams. It will force clubs to make stronger teams all the way down to the B level. It's sad that all clubs really care about is $$$ and not developing youth players.

To be fair, there are some rare organizations that could field multiple teams at the AA level. Team Philly is definitely a club that could have 2 AA teams at many age groups. There are also plenty of clubs that only have AA teams because AHF dictates they need pure AA teams. I won't name teams but it's clear when they are consistently bottom of the standings year after year.

No club should have two AA teams.  Team phl would have a low aa and higher aa team which defeats the purpose.  BBSG rinks want to require aa to promote there rinks but they get there asses kicked a lot of the times.  Too many AA teams just like too many AAA teams.

Money and the appeasement of letter chasing parents.  Some might have 2, and other places are forced to field 1 team who are barely low A and now playing AA.
