BIG LINE POWERS SOUTH TO ANOTHER 10-GOAL WIN

BRISTOL, PA - Council Rock South knew they had hit the jackpot when sophomores Michael Roby Jr. and Antii Autere committed to play this year, and so far the jackpot has been paying out in goals big time. Last night was no different as the pair, along with that lines resident worker bee Douglas Lopez, combined for 16 points in a 10-0 rout of the visiting Souderton Indians at everyone’s favorite venue, at everyone’s favorite time, 9pm at Grundy arena.

South made it 3-0 in the first 4 minutes of the game, Roby and Autere on the tallies, sandwiching a goal by freshman defenseman Derek Steudler. It was Roby again, then Lopez, Duffield and Cherkassky and it was 7-0 after just one period of play, but it wasn’t as if Souderton wasn’t trying. They gave a good effort and goaltender Noah Connor was superb despite the onslaught of goals, and both were even better in the second period as the Indians ramped up the intensity and effort and were more competitive against a now comfortable Golden Hawks team. While Souderton was unable to score they did hold South to just 2 goals in the period, the former being Lopez’s second on a nice redirect to take advantage of a power play, and Roby then completed his hat trick with 3 minutes left in the period. The Indians did have a few quality chances in the period with goalie Jim Sweeney being equal to the task for the Hawks.

Council Rock came out flying to start the third, eagerly wanting to get the mercy rule goal and get home. They dominated the two minutes and thirty five seconds it took before Kyle Schneider did just that, assisted by Roby and Autere of course.

FULL GAME REPLAY AND BOX SCORE: Souderton Indians vs CR South Golden Hawks 12 12 2019

Souderton had a better team than the score would imply, and they did well to continue to work throughout, but they just didn’t have that high end talent that Council Rock possesses and that led to another mercy rule final in a SHSHL season that seems to be full of them. Souderton will challenge another tough opponent tonight in CB East, while Council Rock will have off until next Wednesday when they face off against Quakertown.
