The East Brunswick Township Council on July 22 unanimously awarded two contracts, totaling $30.485 million, for building an 83,900-square-foot ice rink near Route 18, Mayor Brad Cohen told NJ Advance Media. Work is expected to begin in the fall and will take between 12 to 18 months, Cohen said.

I was told it would take years to get a brand new club up and running.

why don't you like black bear?  not looking forward to paying for their new video service, i.e. not livebarn, so you can "Watch your kid play" when you can't be there?

Somehow people survived in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's not watching every practice or game

The Bear will continue to ruin hockey on this vendetta he has for USA Hockey, but you have drank the Kool Aid so no point in arguing with you

if you biggest selling point is "LIVE STREAM on BBTV!!" you are not in it for the kids

I don't like BB for multiple reasons:

1. Prices 25% higher than other rinks and they control all rinks within and hour of my house.
2. THF travel for league games is insane- 5 hotels for league games- not showcases- why do we need to play teams in CT, NY, Pittsburgh, and VA when there are plenty of teams in SE PA/NJ?
3. Showcases/Tournaments are all hotel stays and BB picked them for us- all at BB owned rinks 4 more hotel stays! Can't wait for the 5+hr drive to Rochester, 9+ hrs to Detroit, and 12hr to Chicago and have to fly to Minnesota. Or just pay for flights for all 4 that will be 3x's cost of driving!
4. BBTV a joke, costs more money and LB still needed- this is not for me, but for grandparents that want to see their grandson play but can't travel
5. Fee to register for league- no explanation what fee is for except- "higher fees for THF"
6. Snack bars in BB rinks suck, it they even have one!
7. Uniforms from their crappy supplier suck!
8. Rinks need a ton of work, are not clean and smell

My son is moving on to prep school after this season, so no more BB. The complaints I here from other parents echo my own. On their website they say: "Manage our hockey clubs to provide convenient, high-level competition at an affordable price". This is boldfaced false advertising. HAlf the teams in the THF are low AA, the travel is not convenient and the price is off the charts compared to AYHL rinks. They need to be sued!

Showcases are not stay to play, if a hotel is needed find your own at a cheaper rate. We haven't stayed in a BB suggested hotel 1 time for showcases. We are a non BB rink and are fees are just as much as the closest BB rink with no tournaments included.

THF is just as watered down as the rest of AAA hockey because too many AAA teams are in the area. AAA when my oldest played was for the top kids because less teams meant better competition for those spots. My youngest plays AA with a bunch of low A kids on the team, it's a trickle down effect. AA playing AAA weakens AA on down.
