From NCSA:  DIVISION 2 HOCKEY COLLEGES
The NCAA has not sponsored a Division 2 Men’s Ice Hockey Championship since 1999, due to a lack of sponsoring programs. As a result, there is only one collegiate athletic conference that sponsors NCAA’s Division II level hockey, the Northeast-10 Conference. There are seven programs in the Northeast-10, across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont.

Funny thing is if does summer camps in PA, NJ, Delaware, Maryland he maybe paying my D3 son to instruct his kid. 3 yrs ago his 2 college teammates started their own travel camp/clinic business during the summer and he is one of their instructors since it started. They run 10-12 3day clinics, 7hrs per day for $425 with a 20 skater min 30 skater max plus they invite 4 goalies from the rink for free. The breakdown is 30min off ice warmup/15min get changed/2hrs skating instruction/15min get changed/40min lunch(provided) plus chalk talk with guess instructor/20min lite stretch/15min get changed/2hrs on ice puck handling and shooting/15min get changed/ 30min off ice drills. Every clinic has a special guess instructor, in the past they had their D3 coach(made it as far as the AHL), players from the ECHL, D1 players from Michigan, Penn State and others. I'd post their name but my son don't want me too, afraid people that don't agree with me will try to ruin their rep. I hope I gave enough to be able to find them, they have great reviews and many repeat skaters.

Only a sad pathetic loser would try to ruin the clinics rep because they don't agree with what a parent may think on here, but that is what the world has become. Was he completely wrong about his view on his participation trophies post, no. Could he have phrased it better, yes. Was he 100% right about his school post, absolutely. Obviously his kid is smart, Physical Therapy isn't a cake walk.

ok, so NCAA D2 is a thing, who knew. My question is how one of those hand full of schools in the northeast noticed a AAA player from the tri state area? Plus, with such a small amount of schools how long will it last would be my concern. What happens to that partial scholarship?

The 1st yr he played AAA he was on the closest team to us. His 2nd and 3rd year he stayed with is Aunt during the season. He played on the same team as his cousin in up state New York and will do the same his final year. Their club makes highlight reals for each player once they hit 16. He took his 2yrs of highlights and sent them to all the D2 schools and a hand full of D1 schools in the North East. Your concern about D2 lasting is valid and one we had but the coach made us feel good about it. The cool part is he will either play with or against his cousin in college, they sent tape into all the same programs. My nephew got 2 offers, my son got 1.

I enjoyed the back and forth but let's get back on topic. All clubs have sh*tbag parents and coaches, some more than others. If you think your club don't have them you need to remove your blinders. The important thing is for the non sh*tbags to avoid falling into the sh*tbag category. My wife and I always volunteer to do the clock and scoresheet/penalty box to avoid  being around our sh*tbag parents and the sh*tbag parents on the other team. Only I go to away games and I volunteer for the penalty box every game for the same reason. Don't get me wrong before the game our parents are cool to talk and hang out with but once the puck drops some of them turn the sh*tbag switch on. We started doing this because a few years ago a dad was being a sh*tbag and the ref didn't no what dad it was so he threw out all the dads in the general area of the sh*tbag.

Your are correct Sir! Every team has bad parents on the team. What is it about ice hockey that makes parents crazy? I have seen very nice parents become lunatics once they step inside the rink. I was on a team multiple years with a parents had they went nuts on the coaches, their kid and the refs every game. I am so happy to no be on the same team again this year. I bet every rink has parents like this. Why can't parents just cheer for their kid and let them have fun? At Dunlops this weekend and the usual suspects are out in full force. Can't wait until summer break to get away from these morons!
