This is for anybody who wants to hear, if your son didn't make Districts PLEASE go tryout for Hershey Quebec Team is a way better experience than the PWQ Flyers. My son played last season and it was a awesome experience for him and my family. If he is able to make that team DO IT you wont regret it. The cost is 500 if you make the team, Flyers is like 3K, you will just need to do a ton of fundraising but it is well worth it. They are in the AA-Elite division and the competition is great and just as good as some of the AAA Teams. Hershey treats the kids like a JR team, they really do it right for the kids.

First, congrats to any and all who made the team - either because they deserved it or because their parents or club are well connected...(and let's be honest there is a little bit of both)!  For the kids sake, I hope they have fun!

Seems like they tried to spread it around more this year, but a shame as it meant more deserving players don't get to go.  I mean come on, the Minutemen at this birth level are a low A/high B team at best, but they took one of their players (who seems to have only played one year of AAA)... And they took a poor goalie who is an A goalie from his last club... that poor  kid won't even touch the ice... but his parents can brag that he went... way to do damage to your kids psyche....

Seems the Quebec team it is just like the PA Brick team, a total joke.  As someone who moved here from Ontario, please know that most in Canada laugh at our "AAA" hockey... The Flyers team shouldn't even be in AAA - they are terrible year upon year.  Even in a year when there was real local talent (2010) I am not sure they broke made it to the top five.

The tryouts should be blinded and judged by people independent of it all.  They should separate the AAA and AA/A player tryouts the they can actually SEE the kids play.  And, they shouldn't force people to come and tryout as their way to raise money - there are other ways to fund this event without robbing people in the area who stand NO chance as they are not connected.

It's also pretty sad for the couple of kids who do deserve to be there - they can't compete without a full team of talent AND it minimizes their deserved achievements and placement on the team... Shame

Saying the Flyers get destroyed year after year is completely inaccurate. I’m also pretty sure there are evaluators hired that aren’t involved with any district clubs.

The fact you’re criticizing a specific kid who made it from VF is embarrassing. 4 paragraphs of misinformation.

I’ve got news for all of you, some of the best kids are on aa teams for the simple fact their parents can’t afford aaa prices. I’m not arguing you get more for the money at aaa but if you can’t afford the extra the bargain doesn’t matter. So today kids who made if on the team was political because they play aa usually sounds ridiculous. Stop living through your kids and calling out other children.

HJB is a great experience, absolutely first class for the kids that make it and the value for the cost is unmatched.  However, they absolutely do not pick based on talent alone… nepotism, politics and you can absolutely buy your way on to the team.

Also, roster isn’t final until Fall or sometimes later so they are happy to bump a kid(s) if they can find better talent despite practicing with the team all summer.

It’s how the world works, whether in business or youth sports - who you know is often just as important as what you know.

That's complete BS. The rosters speak for themselves. Just like last year...The people picking the teams aren't listed as evaluators.
