What’s wrong with his calculations? My son plays on one of the local AAA squirt teams and that’s a pretty accurate description of what I paid this season. The uniform package wasn’t that high, about $500, but the rest seems accurate. We had a to take a couple flights and that jacked up the travel costs but $10,000/season seems right. I would have preferred my son play AA or even A but he made a AAA team and wanted to play with his friends. He’s having fun. We’ve got to see some cities we’ve never been to and he’s getting better. Yes it’s a lot of money but he’s happy…

South Jersey T2 cost 3k. Most buy matching equipment/bag like AAA. Compare to below.

Not all AAA teams are buying airfare. They do more tournaments. But that’s not something I would complain about

Little Flyers Squirt

45+ Game Schedule (including Tournaments and Showcases)
50 Practices during the season
Skills Clinic once or twice a month
Three Tournaments
Eight-session Skills Clinic in June with Dave Dorman
Unlimited Summer Practice (July & August, scheduled by coach)
Summer Mini Camp
Goalie Coach Matt Tendler
Video sessions
Team Issued Hockey Gloves & Equipment Bag
Practice Jersey & Practice Socks
Little Flyers Workout Shirt & Shorts

Additional Equipment package 315.00

My last tier 2 team had at least 3 overnight tournaments.

AAA isn’t for anyone that doesn’t want to travel. That’s a big attraction for me .

I’ve actually spend more with tier 2, when adding the cost of additional clinics and private lessons.

Both of my kids played in house at mini mites to pee wee and they were both much better than everybody else on the ice at every level until midgets. But they liked playing with their friends until everybody split up and moved on to full travel. Sure a friend or two will fall off each season but for the most part they stayed together and then the majority went to full travel at bantam. Some friends didn't get better so they stayed in house or went light travel. My kids played AA at bantam and AAA. My oldest played AAA and my youngest did it for one year then went back to AA his final year. Both played prep school here in PA and all threw those years they were productive players on the scoreboard. My oldest went on to play D2 college club and his brother chose to play LAX and gave up hockey in college. Long story short, your kids can be the best in the area or top players but they're not going to the NHL or getting a D1 free ride. Our kids played with others who were way better players whose parents burned them out and they quit in high school or had no interest in college. Others who were also way better and the parents swore they were top college or pro material played or are playing club hockey not NCAA in college. Unless your kid is a protege and is the 1 out of every 700 youth players he is going to be playing club hockey with tier 2 players, tier 1 players and failed Jr players in college at the club level. Get a grip folks you need a reality check paying $100 grand from mites thru midgets isn't a ticket to a scholarship or pros.

Can I get the 5 minutes of my life back from reading this trash? Although, I am thankful someone shed some light on the underground forums of washed up hockey Dads. Some comedic relief for the night. Is this an adult forum or an 8 year old Roblox chat? I was having a hard time deciphering.

Yet, aside from that, it is actually pretty disturbing how much energy people invest into what other parents choose for their kids. It’s also pretty entertaining how much misinformation is being spewed. Why do you care so much? Invest your time and energy into your own team, program, and families. Stepping outside of middle school mentality may be refreshing, we do love the clout though, thanks for that. A little bit of sage might be a good thought as well.

The Pilots and FE 2013 players and families will be just fine. We’ll pray for all of you.

PS I agree there is only one worthy post here … Johnny is killing it this year. Just goes to show what a Coach with the right attitude can do.

There is no 2013 team. The Pilots A team is made up of 2015s, 2014s, and 2013s.

Parents will always do what they think is best for children. Each parent will have differing opinions on what that is. My issue is with rinks more than parents. Parents rely on the coaches and rinks to provide accurate information. They will "fudge" the truth in order to get the parent to shell out $5k to play AAA. They will downplay the travel, added costs like team building sessions, and uniform/equipment packages. They will blow smoke up the parents butts about how their child is ready for AAA, even when the child is not. 2013 FE will have a very tough season next year. The 2013 players from the Pilots are good, but they only play Mite A in AHF. When they did play AHF advanced teams they got killed.  These children are not ready to play AAA. The parents and children have no idea what is instore for them because the coach, as good hearted as he is, has no idea what AAA is about and the rink needs the 2013 AAA revenue. In the end the rinks win with $, the children get destroyed, the parents are left picking up the pieces and an overmatched coach loses his reputation. SAD!
