"deciding not to go to a "real" college" Who are you to put down anyone that goes to community college? CC is a "real" college that gives out real degrees. My wife went to a CC and got the same degree, job and pay as her co-worker that went to Temple for a lot less debt.

The reasons he opted to do what he decided are all logical, well thought out reasons. Loyalty, friendship is overlooked to often anymore. A 2nd yr of 18u especially at AA would have absolutely benefited him. To be 17 and wise enough to want to save $17000 is smart. I encouraged my kids to do the same.

Stats for all are pretty nice. Just based on the stats I'd say the odd goalie out would be the  2nd 16AA goalie. The number that really stands out to me is the PP/SHGA of 6. Was your team clean with little penalties? My guess is that he is the same goalie that the original post is about being on the verge of being cut based on the comments.

So I'm pretty sure the goalie they are talking about the possibly of being cut is my son. He was accepted to Alvernia, Liberty, KU and Penn State Berks. Alvernia, KU, & PS Berks are club hockey that play in the DVCHC, if Berks has enough players. At Liberty he would have been on the D3 team, if enough players.

A couple reasons he decided to go back for a 2nd yr. 1. He loves his teammates and really wanted to finish with them. 2. He felt a yr at 18 would help him get more prepared for college hockey being he is only 17, just turning 18 before the 24/25 season starts. 3. He was going to do the bullsh*t classes at community for a yr at $3,500 instead of $20,000+

Far from, our team had around 600 penalty mins. He stepped up like nobody I've seen when shorthanded. We played a in a tournament listed as 18U to find out we were the only A team. The one AA team had a 3 on 5 advantage for over 5 mins, we had 4 in the box. He made save after save for over 3 mins before the squeezed in a goal and held them off until the final min of the penalties before they scored a second, We lost 4-2 and outshot like 5-1. That 6 was league play and they were all shorthanded breakaways, he gave up 0 when on the PK in league play.

The 2 18AA goalies from last yr are 18AA this yr. The 1st 16AA and the 18A goalie are 18A this year and the 2nd 16AA has left. The 18A goalie from last yr made it by default, the 16AA goalie wasn't happy being placed on A and left. Out of the 8 goalies registered 7 are on a team. Thanks to the 18A goalie he was able to tell the 1st 2 cut about teams in need of a goalie before evals even ended. The one that left had a club to go to before evals even started. It was if I make AA at my current club I'm staying there, if not I will come here deal. The 4 placed with the club and the last goalie who for the 3rd time in 5yrs is a practice/emergency goalie. We have a bunch of happy skaters including my son to see the 18A goalie back. We all thought he'd be cut and would have been just because he is 2nd yr 18. The 2 16AA and the 18A are pretty close in play and we all thought with the 16AA both having 2yrs to play at 18U a need was bigger for them in the 25/26 season.

How did the 16AA that left already have a AA team to go to before the eval started? How was the 18A goalie able to help find goalie openings before evals ended? Practice/ Emergency goalie? Glad to hear most are going to be on the ice.

The 16AA goalie tried out for a 18AAA team and was not taken but was offered a spot on their AA team. The practice/emergency goalie is easy money for the club. The one 18AA goalie this year is a multi sport player and will miss most of the practices in the 1st few months. Last year all he did was take net time away from the actual goalies that played. My son has played for 2 travel clubs, 3 different scholastic leagues, different goalie camps and was on a couple Spring Tournament teams. We have made friends all over and he has kept in contact with goalies from Northern Jersey, Western Pa, Southeastern Pa, Syracuse and other parts of the tri state area. Every year he and I get messages from people we have met telling us about openings.
