Atlantic City Sharks gone after March
Topic: January 17, 2022, 03:45:44 PM
The Atlantic City Sharks are most likely to fold after March.

Unfortunately, Black Bear has not renewed their lease (due in March) with the city of AC and they are probably not going to. AC is such a small market for Black Bear especially with them only fielding six teams this year. There is no way for them to grow and make money. It's also one of the furthest rinks that the new AHF clubs would have to travel to. Feel bad for the kids because most live further south in the Cape May area and it's a long drive to Hollydell, Flyers Youth or the Jags.

If true, this is disappointing, perhaps Toms River or Brick is an option as well, in past years both clubs have had players from SJ coming up the GSP.

For those who don't seem to like Black Bear, AC, Protec, Wintersport - the list keeps growing of rinks closing.  If Black Bear wasn't here lots more probably get closed.

Black Bear owns the rink that the Sharks play out of.  They aren't saving anything here.  They will start a new organization out of that rink that is owned by BB and effectively kill off the Sharks the same way they killed off the Freeze at Aspen.  Its all about the $$$ and control of everything from top to bottom for the Bear.  They are terrible for youth hockey in this state.

Freeze killed themselves.

do tell.......regarding Freeze, never understood why get rid of strong organization

AC needs to keep Vinnie R involved, great for what they offer, clubs up the Parkway should be looking to see if he will move, value to program

don't know where Brick plays next year, think mystery, Ice Palace only around till condos are built, gamble to go back, if you don't, get swallowed up at JSA, no win for them, and now more like house league compared to what they used to be, can't even offer AA

Freeze killed themselves.
Thats where you are wrong. Freeze were a strong and healthy organization that BB put the squeeze on. Any outside club that doesn't fall in line lock step with the BB rink owned demands gets the boot. Pay them exorbitant amounts of money or go play somewhere else is the BB motto.

Sharks have nothing to do with Freeze.  Disfunctional situation between CRDA and City - CRDA has lease but City hates them.  No one can make a decision.  And both are pissed at Comcast demanding money.  Situation has nothing to do with sharks - entirely about AC disfunction as usual.
