This makes total sense and is probably good for the sport to have some multiple leagues competing against each other.  Monopolies don't end well for the consumer.

However, it does fly in the face of the "DVHL part line" of "less travel" and "local competition".   DVHL is coming out of this looking hypocritical.

Do your own research buddy!

NJYHL joins as founding member of Mid Atlantic Hockey Alliance – New Jersey
DVHL joins as founding member of Mid Atlantic Hockey Alliance

WOW, our club didn't even mention it to us. I think this should have been shared by the clubs involved. What is the travel going to be like between former DVHL and NJ teams? This should have been talked about before eval sign ups opened. I probably would have stayed with our club but it would have been the right thing to do.

Facebook is not the way to notify parents of a change like this, an email from the club would have been a better way. Maybe their team didn't post it, maybe they don't follow other clubs, maybe they don't have Facebook. Clubs shouldn't rely on social media as it's sole place for info.

In most divisions it will be a two and 1 model. Will play each dVHL team twice and each NJYHL team once. Probably would split the NJ games between home and away so it's not much more travel.

So at my sons level with that model he will play around 16 games. I hope you are wrong. It is no longer NJYHL/DVHL it is one league and they should play each team twice, one home one away. For $300 more I can drive an extra 10-15 min and play around 26 games. If your model is right this maybe our last year before going to an AHF club. I will give the new league a 1yr trial.
