Why are there so many miserable parents in hockey? Can anyone just enjoy the ride? Also, why is it dads always think they know more than the coaches? I love my rink but some parents are the most unhappy, constantly complaining
and dumbest people around!

Overheard a visiting dad of AAA team. His attitude was the worst I have ever seen. He was bad mouthing kids on his team and the coach. Funny thing is his kid was worst player on ice. This guy was bragging how his kid made a Quebec team. Can't believe a team would take this kid to Quebec. Must be one of those fringe teams, either AHF or Islanders. Now before anyone starts in on me bad mouthing a 12 year old, I am not. The kid has some talent, but belongs on an A level team. There is no way this kid should be playing AAA, but that is where we are at in todays youth hockey environment and parent chasing letters. Too many AAA teams, not enough AAA talent! For the love of all that is sacred, I implore parents to place their kids at the correct level and not delude themselves into thinking their kid has AAA talent.

Hot rumor: coach and sons from SJ rink heading down rt 55 next year. Coach has 2 teams at current rink. Nightmare scenario for longtime club director especially after mass defections of coaches and kids last year. $100 to person who guesses who I am talking about. Leave your email to claim money.

I’m pretty sure he’d take 295 to Hollydell.

Ah, December is not only the holiday season but also hockey rumor season. I am surprised that 90%+ of rumors from last year turned out to be true. Happy speculating!

Isn't this the same rumored move that was talked about 2 seasons ago.

Correct depending on where you are coming from. I will believe this guy moves when it happens. I can't see him leaving his current rink for Hollydell. He will not fit in with the cray parents and win at all costs mentality of PHC. The only issue I see with him staying at current rink is finding enough high level players for his youngest to play with after next season. I think he stays 1 more year and then moves when kid is 2nd yr Pee Wee. Then again I am sure PHC is recruiting his 2014 kid hard.  It is a tough year in MHR for PHC at all levels except 2013 team. PHC demands top 10 rankings and anything short of this will result in 4-5 new players for the next season.

I think it is sad that I am writing about young kids not living up to expectations, but that is what you get if you go play for PHC. Development and loyalty are not concepts PHC embrace. Results are what matters. PHC will not hesitate to cut a player who has been loyal to the program. It is all about wining and that is not what youth hockey should be about, even at AAA. Development is key and most of these kids will not make it once checking starts. PHC had a nice run but I think the shine is wearing off. Most AAA parents I talk to would never go to Hollydell. I think that is why this guy ultimately stays at current rink, then moves to a non-PHC AAA team after next season.
