I know a lot of families at FY and former FY families that left this year. It amazes me how many of these families and other former Hollydell families I know are trying out for PHC. These parents and some of the kids are delusional to think they will make PHC teams. JH already has 3 new kids coming in (including his son) so the 2014 PHC team will most likely be cutting a current player or 2. The 2013 team is #9 in the country and I doubt they will take kids from FY or THF. The 2012 team needs players, but they supposedly already have 4 new handpicked kids joining next season so the FY and THF kids are longshots. 2011 team is best shot for FY and THF kids as that team lost most of their best players to JrF. Parents and kids have no idea how tough a schedule PHC plays. They think because they play low level AYHL and so called "AAA" teams from THF they can play for PHC. Look at 2013 FY team. They've played 11 AAA games against MHR rated 87 or lower. They are 2-8-1 against low level AAA teams with the 2 wins coming against teams ranked 84 & 83. What makes these parents and kids think they can make the #9 team in the country? Same with players on THF & AHF AA teams. The issue is not that kids don't have talent, most of these kids do. The issue is the speed of the game, hockey instincts and high level processing skills to play the pace PHC and for that matter any of the top 3-4 teams in the District play. All these kids have <1% chance to make PHC. PHC is telling families they have shot but TB is really recruiting kids for Hurricanes AA pure because none of those teams are very good, except when playing AA but really A teams in the AHF. I hope I am wrong, but having experience with Hollydell & PHC , I have seen this bait and switch play out before! Good luck to all the kids trying out for PHC, you will need it!

Hopefully those teams can generally stay together and the parents avoid AAA

AHF AA Pure is a joke. Most teams are A level. The THF is a AA league with a few AAA teams. BB leagues stink. Stop thinking Hurricanes teams are good. Maybe the 2011 team is ok but 2012 is below average and 2013 team has a losing non-league record that got crushe 2xs by FY 2013 AA. Just a few delusional Hollydell parents talking out their a**!

People act like ayhl teams are top tier, they’re not it’s like any other league at any other level. There are high end and low end teams in all leagues. Minutemen lose to thf teams it’s all relative. Now that tb is hiring dad coaches the Phc cult has stopped beating the “dad coaches are a joke” drum. FE has had success at younger levels and tb is promising the world to retain people at hurricanes. Same with ML at fy. False promises because $ is the only goal. Say what you will about bb but these other rinks are just as culpable. Stop following the prestige of a program, find a good coach who cares about making your kid better.

Nothing wrong with Dad coaches. FE has a few that are qualified to be coaching tier 1.

TB promises the dream of PHC but it is rarely achieved. PHC may get some new 2012, 2013 & 2014 talent, but not from local teams. PHC will recruit from North NJ, DE, MD & VA. They want local kids to think they will make PHC, but they won't and TB will try to get them on Hurricanes. FY is dead and will lose more players again just like  last year. ML needs to go. FE may be good at 2015 and 2014 team shows promise, but 2013, 2012 & 2011 need more talent. Dad coaches are at every rink. There are good and bad dad coaches, just like there are good and bad non-dad coaches.  The fact is no one can tell if a kid will be a good player until they are 15-16 years old. Would you rather have your kid be a third line player on PHC or a top line player on a lower AAA team? My answer is top line player on lower AAA team. More ice time, more high pressure situations (PP & PK) and more leadership responsibilities. Kids from FY or other low level AAA teams will not be happy if they make PHC. Development is not PHC's business model. Recruit top talent and winning is their model. If you want development, go to rinks that PHC steals from!
