PENNSBURY VICTORIOUS OVER WILLIAM TENNENT ON SENIOR NIGHT

The Pennsbury Falcons varsity team has had its ups and downs this season. They started the season 8-2-1. It was the best season start for the Falcons in several years.

BRISTOL, PA. - At the beginning of the season, they were dealing with injuries to two key players who both returned to the line up by the beginning of January. It looked as if they were going to cruise to the postseason and end up in a top position for both the SHSHL playoffs and Flyers Cup Tournament. Then, between mid-January and early February, they lost three games that the coaches and players knew they should have won. After a big win last week vs CB East, they were looking to continue their winning ways vs William Tennent and end the season on a high note.

It was Senior Night at Grundy for the Falcons and in a nod to the Seniors, all four Seniors started the game. Forwards Beau Yedman and Jake Machlovitz and Defensemen Ben Dous and Jasper Millman were quick to set the tone for the game. The first period was a defensive battle, with Tennent goalie Thomas Lomas and Pennsbury goalie Topher Seiler coming up big for their teams. It was Pennsbury freshman Brendan MacAinsh who found the back of the net first, scoring on a pass from Yedman. The first ended 1-0 and it looked like this might be a close one.

The Falcons came out in the second and they wanted to make sure everyone knew that they were in control. Before the period ended, they would score three more goals while only giving up one. They put the game away in the third, where they would score four more.

While it was a night to celebrate the Seniors, the Pennsbury freshmen stood out on the scoresheet. MacAinsh ended the night with three points (2 goals, 1 assist), Justin Marlin got his first goal of the season and assisted on another to end with a 2 point night and Andrew Falkenstein also recorded an assist on a Jake Machlovitz goal in the 3rd. As always, Falcons goaltender Topher Seiler was strong in net, saving 29 of 30 shots.

The Falcons are on a roll and look to continue their winning ways into next week’s playoffs.
