Now that the season is coming to a close was playing in the AHF as advertised?

Author Topic: SURVEY: Season ending first year thoughts playing in the AHF  (Read 4277 times)

Description:

Before casting your vote, please be sure to review and base your decision on checks and balances. Have they delivered on everything they promised?

  • Is the price you pay more logical and fiscally sound than playing in any other league? Based on what is offered, aka, did you get more bang for your buck for the price you paid over playing in other leagues?
  • Does the parity tournament accurately place teams in their correct competitive levels?
  • Was your entire season schedule on time, and was it accurate?
  • At completion of the season will your team have played the correct number of games as promised?
  • Did your team receive all of their skills and development sessions as promised?
  • Did your team participate in all four showcase events?
  • Were the mandatory showcase events geographically diverse and played within logical driving distance of each other?
  • Were your multiple game days played locally in conjunction with completing a game and being able to easily drive from one game to the next, on time?
  • Did you play in all of the tournaments as promised?
  • Looking forward to next season. Was this past season's experience what was expected, and will you be happy to pay a price increase for the next and going forward?

How can anyone possibly appreciate being told they have to pay more when they already pay more than any other league? Not to mention the fact that BB just shut down the cap city vipers forcing those families to find somewhere else to play or pay more with them.

It’s my org’s first year as full time AHF.  Overall I think it went smoothly.  It seemed like a little more travel, but the showcases certainly mitigated it from being even worse.  There may be some smaller divisions that didn’t have the same experience.  The division alignments need some tweaking and something needs to be done about keeping orgs like Ashburn sandbagging every team they have.  But overall it was a good experience I think.  My org isn’t raising the rates over last year.

My complaint is the showcases. Why what is the point they don't serve any purpose at all but we have to play in them. They count in the standings playing teams our kids wouldn't otherwise possibly ever play. Just dumb that can be accomplished with tournaments our managers can schedule like in other leagues and at least the kids come away with a meaningful accomplishment if they win.

Limited choices in SJ. Go to Voorhees to terrible program. Go to Holydell to overcrowded rinks and crazy parents. Go to Tier 1. Igloo really only option. BB knows they have us trapped!

1) The price was exactly as advertised. No hidden fees.
2) Yes and no, some of the partial season teams should have been moved up a level. The rest of the teams were fairly matched.
3) Schedule was delivered MUCH earlier and with minimal changes in season.
4) More games than in DVHL previous years.
5) VFC doesn't do skills development outside of the team coaches.
6) Never had a problem with games at different rinks on the same day.
7) I expect price increases every year regardless of the league based on the cost of utilities and rinks making enough to keep in operation.
Honestly, the AHF has been far better than my 8 previous years in the DVHL. They offered actual scoresheet access, all star games, players of the week, and stats.
