Guest:

These are PHC coaches / mgt.
South Jersey people think Hollydell is the only rink in the Mid-Atlantic and so they throw out indecipherable posts like this.
No idea why people abbreviate names.

TB is a good coach just like a lot of other coaches at other rinks. Hollydelll thinks they are at the be all/end all to hockey. They are not. Their teams are good because at the upper ages they recruit most of the kids from other rinks. At the lower ages they also recruit after age 9 so they can add 3-4 better players per year. They just recruited a coach and son to 2014 PHC team. The coach recruited a couple kids from other AAA programs and PHC will brag how they "develop" kids better than other rinks. Their 2011 team got a kid from another AAA program. The kid is a very good player. He was developed by other rinks and coaches, but PHC will say they developed him. It is mostly smoke and mirrors. They have really good goalies at PHC but a lot of them go to non-Hollydell/other rinks goalie coaches for private sessions. They have players at all PHC levels that go to non-Hollydell/other rinks coaches for private sessions as well. No rink develops their players 100%. There are a lot of coaches involved in making a player great. Beware Hollydell, it is a toxic environment.

All players should attend skills practice and skating clinics with coach’s both inside and outside of their rink. If you want to build a well rounded adaptable player that is the formula, different approach’s to skill development is the idea. As far as if this guys is a good or bad coach, the lack of negativity on this post about him should shine brighter then any positive review. The majority of posters on this site are people with an axe to grind and very little knowledge of the inter workings of hockey development.
