Organizations with coaches at multiple levels

How do organizations navigate having head coaches who are in charge of multiple levels?

Example: Coach A is the head coach of Pw minor, major, and squirt A.

I'm interested to hear how a coach's time is actually split up and if players/parents feel like they get what is advertised.

My sons coach is the head coach on 3-4 teams a year and does a great job at it. It seems he is at the rink just about everyday. This past year he coached mite, midget 16 & 18. All 3 team practice the same days one after the other with a 20 min space in between where he talks to parents of the players who just got off the ice. Our scheduler does a great job at getting his 16 & 18 teams at the same rink for games. Mites are early and usually not a problem getting from their game to the older kids. It helps that he has a head coach quality assistant on the older teams and a pretty good one at mites. This year he missed about 2 18U and 3 mite games, his kid is on the 16U team. For tournaments they all travel to the same tournaments and when possible the teams attend each others game, the mites love the older kids there cheering them on. All 3 of the teams made their league playoffs. He has a love for the game and even shows up to assist other teams practices if their coaches can't make it. He is not the only one at our rink that is on multiple coaching staffs.

Games mean nothing. Practice is where the players get better. Skating, Skating, Skating. If a coach concentrates on skating first combining other skills in drills it is fine. Not all coaches are equal. It is a marathon not a sprint, so stick with the coach if he is good, even if they have multiple teams.
