Tis the season for giving, local Pottstown hockey team helps families cope during the holiday season.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - A local youth hockey team showed great teamwork off the ice this weekend.

Kids from the Pottstown Penguins Youth Hockey Club wrapped presents for three families in need being served by the Salvation Army.

Hockey club families spent weeks collecting gifts, food and other necessities for the families.

Leaders of the hockey club say the effort shows the kids the importance of teamwork.

"As one person, they can go to the store and buy that one gift of donation, but when they come together and see what the entire organization, the entire team can do, you can do so much more," said Adrienne Heaberlin, with the Pottstown Penguins Youth Hockey Club.

Organizers say the response was so good, they ended up collecting more than what the families asked for on their wish lists.
