My kids have been waiting patiently and while I was originally all for shutting things down, it was different in March and it made sense. This now is nonsense, most would be very willing to understand and get behind the state if the rules were across the board the same for occupancy capacity requirements. Nobody goes to my sons games, they are at 5 o'clock in the morning for crying out loud. My husband works every weekend and misses their games. I'm at the rink for 4 hours and I'm supposed to sit in my car for each game?

"I was fine with it when it didn't impact me directly"

"Youth hockey is an essential service, like grocery shopping"

Yes, or don't have him play.  That's the wonderful thing is that you are in full control and can make an informed decision.

You people are wild, man.  I thought baseball parents were a bunch of self-entitled assholes until I got a glimpse at this world.

1000%! Could not agree more. Stop the constant complaining that you aren't getting your way. Life isn't fair. Clearly, many people have never been taught that.

Are you saying you are perfectly ok with decisions that have no sensible logic behind them? Life isn't fair if there's a logical explanation, its not the same when there's no reasonable rational for the measures being taken. The governor has repeatedly said his reasons for various size limits are because he says so. They have nothing to do with essential vs non-essential. We're well beyond the need for only essential resources but still he will not release the lock-down. You're ok with that and you fall into the minority which is your right to your opinion but calling me names because I don't agree with you is hateful.

That poster earlier sounds like they are spot on, read this thread, the parents want it more than the kids.

I agree, let's shut everything down until Covid-19 is eradicated from the earth.

Seems like there is one guy on here that enjoys acting like a d!ck and then patting himself on the back for being a d!ck.

This is a youth hockey forum, most, not all, people want to see games.

Let's pick apart your points "I was fine with it when it didn't impact me directly"-everyone was directly impacted. The shut down was to flatten the curve and assess the situation.

"Youth hockey is an essential service, like grocery shopping"- is that where we are still at? Only essential services? Funny, casinos are essential? How about gyms? Movie theaters? If you are going to be a derogatory ass at least base it on current information.

You can at least be intelligent enough to make a legitimate argument.

There are two sides to this argument. The let them play side is wondering why it is safer to sit in a casino at 50% rather than an ice rink at let's say 25%. They are wondering why we are protecting kids from each other that have been in close contact all week. Why is jamming all spectators in a bar safer than having them spread out in the rink?

For these, there are no answers.

Tell Colleeen and the other push overs on the board to grow a spine and stand up to the governors recommendation.  It is only a recommendation and not a law. Look at every restaurant that was open that was getting fines, all the fines were rescinded, because there is no law on the books. It is a sad day when people just bow to the person in power. Every players family should get a release immediately, and quit paying. If the team threatens anything, tell the rules have changed and you will pay, IF AND WHEN THE SEASON RETURNS TO NORMAL. And put pressure on the teams to put pressure on the dvhl board.
