Dvhl Parity
Topic: May 04, 2025, 08:33:02 PM
Anyone pay attention or care about the dvhl parity for 10u-12u.  Any team standout or is it as bad as the AHF with just less teams.

One thing I noticed:  The parents behaved well. Games were fairly clean.

I can say they were full games instead of running clock 30 mins games with penalty shots.  Looks like it should be competitive in all the levels.

AHF parity is a joke. 30 min running clock, no PP (penalty shots) and you get 1 week after tryouts before having to play in parity. 1 kids team had 6 new players and the other kids had 11 new players. Nothing like 2 practices to for the team to learn how to play together. Just another money grab! They AHF/THF charge a league fee that is for the parity. $75/player! That is a lot of money for one day on the ice!

While the AHF parity maybe a "joke" I noticed since the start of the AHF more teams from the AHF go Nationals than the DVHL, interesting. The DVHL can have full game parities, we will go to nationals instead. The last 2 yrs the AHF had more affiliate championships (7) and runner ups (5) than the DVHL as well.

There are more teams in AHF than DVHL, but they are somewhat similar in that you have a couple of top teams, then some competitive teams and then bottom teams. Normally those top teams are battling out for those top spots. As far as nationals, you bar some districts that can have an absurd losing record go to nationals.  And AHF/DVHL should be embarrassed that they claim this

The DVHL doesn't have enough teams to have 3 levels of Top, competitive, bottom teams. More teams don't mean a better chance at making nationals or winning the affiliate championships. The DVHLs lack of teams makes it easier for a team to make it to districts. The DVHL has Genesis and CCP and not much else. The AHF has Team Philly, Wiss, LV and Haverford that battle for the top PA spot in the district.
