West side of the Atlantic
Topic: March 29, 2025, 05:36:43 PM
I’m tired of hearing just people in Philly and NJ bicker.  What are the players on the west side of the Atlantic district doing?  Evals for 12U and under should be almost over, is everyone happy?

I’m particularly curious about Reading.  They only had three teams last year…are they going to sink or swim in their second year?

Palmyra, Hershey, CPP, Lancaster, Reading, York, CCSC, Wild, Kings…how are things shaping up?

I guess it's only Philly metro folks on here arguing or maybe 10 guys arguing amongst themselves.  Carry on.

PBK numbers generally solid across the younger Tier 1 teams and it appears slightly lower at tier 2 than the last couple of years.  For Tier 2, they'll have multiple teams from 8U to 12U, but overall only 2 or 3 teams at each age group when the past few years its been 3 or 4 teams.  Overall, still strong numbers.

No idea where the kids are going as I've heard Hershey is only able to field around 1 team at each level.

No clue on the others... York, CPP, Reading or Lancaster????

Older ages will be interesting in a few weeks... seems a lot of PBK kids at Tier 1 are looking around (both for Tier 1 or dropping down to AA).  Having said that, its the same rumor-mill every year and most kids end up back.

Numbers for hockey generally start falling at Bantam as kids decide on other sports or parents decide on cheaper sports.

Lancaster is going to have 1 Mite, 2 Squirt, and 1 Peewee team.  We're hoping on 1 of each for Bantam, 16U, and 18U.  York, PBK, Reading, and Hershey all finish their tryouts this week, whereas Lancaster and CPP still have a tryout date next week.  If your kid doesn't make a team at the places that finalize rosters this week, there may well be a spot for them at one of the Lancaster teams.

Lancaster had a good turnout at 18U.  A few more players and we'd have numbers for 2 teams.  Plenty of opportunities at 16U.

York only had 5 kids at the first 18U tryout.    sounds like they will have a 16U A team and 15U AA team.   not sure about bantam and below.

York 18U skaters should try out for Tomorrow's Ice in Maryland.  It isn't that far.  They could car pool.

Tomorrow’s Ice…aka not in the Atlantic.  We all have enough problems with CPP pulling underhanded stuff to poach players.  You’ve got your own thread. >:(

TI is in the THF and AHF (and some teams are in the CBHL) .

TI does NOT poach players. Like at all. They are notoriously passive.  I wish they made more of an attempt to recruit, to be honest.

All I posted was that there were open roster spots for the taking (especially at 18U and 16U).  Agreed that CPP is aggressive.

But if York only had 5 payers, that doesn't look like there will be a team. Who knows? But if my kid was one of those 5, I'd be looking at other options. TI is one of them. That isn't poaching, that is an opportunity to play hockey.

York maybe losing players to CCP because they are not BB controlled and aren't in the AHF.
