Would make sense to combine the two clubs, They're 20 mins away from each other. But what sense would that make for the pond to unload the Ducks? They are the only club playing out of that rink aren't they?

They're even closer than that. Within 3 miles of each other.

Booting the Ducks would give the PIC a captive customer base. And Club Fee $ > Ice Rental $. The Jr. Blue Hen's have limited ice time so could not absorb both clubs.

Pond is basically looking to do what Iceline/Graves did to the Quakers. Kick existing club out, start your own and make more money.

While the Blue Hens couldn't absorb all of the Ducks, they won't have to as a certain percentage will stay with whatever this new club is.

The Blue Hens aren't a big club to begin with. Who is to say that the Blue Hens players don't move on to the new program at the Pond? Seems like the wave of the future with the rinks taking full and undivided control over all hockey operations and no middle man. That would mean it's the end for the Ducks, Ice Dogs and Wildcats. Uncertainty for the Ducks but the other two become one with an entirely new name.

Yep. Totally a Graves/IceLine situation. Except the DVHL won't bat an eye and let the new club into the league.

Let's be honest about the Rev. The club and rink are both complete garbage.

This will certainly shake things up in the area. From what I've heard, BCI will continue for at least another year while the manager still holds the lease.

Is this the Blue Hens getting the word out ahead of the Ducks collapsing announcement? http://dehockeynight.com/wordpress/index.php/2019/01/30/jr-blue-hens-building-toward-future/?fbclid=IwAR0nk_uhuU19gwJw5RD8QdcW5o9Ov20zjh2yiRN_PvqQpaFuE9FlrY9OnY0

I assume so. From what I was told, the Ducks board went to the Blue Hens with a plan to merge. I'm guessing they aren' ready to announce anything official yet, but this is a start.

To clear up any rumors or speculations about the future of the  Delaware Ducks that are appearing on several  Facebook  pages and websites, The  Ducks will be skating out of the Patriot Ice Center next season and we are actually expecting to grow!

Yes, we did discuss a merger between the two clubs, but that won't be happening in the near future.

Based on recent posts we've seen from the Jr. Blue Hens, it looks like their strategy is moving towards the same strategy the Ducks have always had - sounds like they learned a thing or two about our club during our discussions!

Imitation is the highest form of flattery!

Bottom line is the Ducks are open for business for the 2019-2020 season - hope to see you at evals!

There is no plan to merge. The Blue Hens were approached by the Ducks and JBH rejected the offer based on several reasons.

The Blue Hens have a strong relationship with the University of Delaware which provides them superior facilities and resources.

Last night's announcement can be taken at face value, they have always been a family focused program and they want to keep that atmosphere while also providing development of the game at a higher level.

A stronger relationship with UD, growing resources and good people at the helm have allowed them to put this plan into motion.

I'm not buying it. The Pond has wanted us out for a while. We've heard all of the rumor for what seems like ever. Unless somebody releases an official statement from the Ducks we're still assuming the obvious and we're not coming back. This whole scenario sounds like the same thing that happened with the Quakers. They told everybody nothing was happening until the last day then released a statement they no longer had anywhere to play close to the end of the season. Look at them now 75% of their membership are Team Philadelphia.
