What happened to PHC?
Topic: October 01, 2023, 08:39:34 PM
Their teams are a disaster this year.  They have one good team.  What happened - they were fantastic just two years ago.

Used to be a destination for top talent, tons of talent left over last year for several of those teams. And it was a lot of top players...

A disaster?

You sound like your kid just didn't make the team and you want to bash them because of it. It's early in the season with a bunch of new kids on the teams. I'd say they're doing pretty well given all of that.

If you care about rankings for non natty bound teams, you're an idiot. They mean nothing. It's just a way for parents and kids to brag to their friends and family about how great their kid is.

It depends how you use them. I have been on teams that use these to help schedule non league games later in the season, to find a competitive game. We've had a team cancel a game because there was a big variance in ranking and it would have been a blowout.

I have also seen tournaments use the ranking score to ensure teams enter in the right level. Some teams wont schedule non league until they come out, etc

But yes, some AAA teams use this as a bragging item and it gets out of hand

All very valid points. But I'm 99.9% sure the person who started this thread is a parent and not a coach or tournament director. Just using the rankings as a way to bash youth hockey players. Let the kids play and have fun! If you base your own kid's (and others) worth on MYHR for 2012 and 2011 teams, you're the problem.
