Steering

The amount of dishonesty, disrespect and steering that happens in NJ, by Nj coaches,  is actually disgusting . Everyone’s looking out for themselves and they should be ashamed .

AAA team offers kid spot. Kid goes to tryout but gets cut. Former AAA team won't take him back due to disloyalty. AAA who cut him has AA team so kid signs with them with the promise of practicing 1x/week with AAA team. Promise never comes or it does come but kids on AAA team treat lower level kids like crap. AAA coach ignores them too. Kid is now stuck playing AA with little to no shot of moving up to AAA. Kid and parents are now stuck in a toxic environment with scumbag parents! This is the playbook of TB and Hollydell. Kids and Parents beware!

I mean if your kid was good enough the old team would have taken him back no questions asked

What rock are you living under? AAA Rinks get pissed when kids tryout for other teams. They will take a cast off/cut from another AAA team rather than welcome back a former player that got cut. Does not matter how good kid is, they won't take them back. The sad part about all this is none of this crap matters until a kid is 14u or older. The superstar on a 10U/12U team most likely will not be a superstar at 14U or older. Parents need to focus on what can you do to make your kid a better player, avoid burnout and keep your kids love of the game alive. Remember once checking starts, a lot of these "superstar" kids can't hang anymore. Checking and Puberty- The Great Equalizers!

I agree that TB is notorious for this and he should look himself in the mirror.

But club jumpers are looked down by everybody not just AAA clubs.

Can anyone speak from experience, what kind of "early" contract/guarantee did you get to be sure that you would make the team you are jumping to?
