Who are the top 16U coaches around PA/NJ going into next year? Dont care about number of As, focus on development
Guest:
For my money it has to be Mike Glick
Guest:
He hasn’t focused on development in 20 years of coaching.

Coach Bert. at the LVPY is a really good coach. His team will be the 15AA team next year. Finally, a team worthy of being called 15AA, the last 2 yrs fielding 15AA teams that should have been 16A was embarrassing. After him there is a major drop off in their tier2 program. That's why after many years we are leaving. Prices keep increasing but getting less for the $. NO more tournament included (stopped years ago), non-league game ice slots decreased (used to get 2, then 1) and a gym with trainers that are just ok. Same style of coaches year after year using you tube for drills. They are already sending out text to parents to build next year's teams, why have evals? It was better when my older son played here, much better coaching. I know the game better than 90% at the rink. I played Midwest scholastic hockey, youth travel hockey from A up to the AAA level, 1yr in the juniors, 4yrs in college (NCAA D2(1yr) & NCAA D3(3yrs)) and coached 3yrs of college hockey (until work made it impossible to do anymore). Rumor is they will only have 1 18U team next year with Phil N as the head coach, hope he can stay out of the pub, good luck to that team.

Hard to complain about either Montagna. My kid played for both. Every year a lot of kids move up to tier 1 and they do a good job of developing to fill those gaps. This past season we had almost a quarter of the team leave for tier 1, so there were several new players that had never even played bantam or peewee aa before. The development of was impressive. Combine that with the fact that we played more games for less money and against stiffer competion (from an mhr schedule rating standpoint) than most other 09 teams and it's a pretty good value. At the end of the day they have taken teams to usa hockey nationals, flyers cups and state hs championships, and it's clear playing for them that its not their first rodeo.
