BRISTOL, PA. - The Pennsbury Ice Hockey team starts the season with a lot of unknowns and uncertainties. The roster is a combination of old and new, with four seniors anchoring the squad but also three unproven freshman. Tonight, the team was without two of their standouts from last season, Junior Erik Eisler and Sophomore Shane Siegmund, who are both currently out of the line up with injuries. The team came on the ice to start the game and was quick to prove that the squad was up to the challenge against Wissahickon.

The entire game was hard hitting and highly contested, but the Falcons came out victorious with a 7-0 win. Three of the seven goals came from the seniors on special teams, with Jake Machlovitz netting one power play and one short handed goal and Ben Dous also finding the back of the net short handed. Sophomore defenseman Reese Millman scored the first goal of the season on the power play in the first, while Sophomore Connor Coyne got a goal late in the third. But the biggest stories of the night were the freshmen Andrew Falkenstein and Brendan MacAinsh. Both scored the first goal of their high school careers, while MacAinsh also added two assists and ended with a 3 point night (he tied Machlovitz for most points in the game). Also notable was Sophomore goal tender Topher Seiler, who completed the game with a 22 save shut out – the first shutout of his high school career.

This was a great start for the Falcons, who are looking to improve on last year’s 6-6 record. If they continue to play as they did tonight, that should be a goal they can accomplish.
