Going into Bantams where you can try out multiple places, do most clubs give extra weight to kids who come out the first night instead of the second or third night? Tying to decide if we should go to night 1 for the team where we are most likely to do well in placement or go to another one that’s preferred but more of a long shot.

At some clubs, the AA teams get their contract offers after the first night.  I'd work the pre-skates, and if your kid doesn't look like top 6 F / top 4 D look elsewhere for the first night.

Go to the team you will make. Most teams get pissed at kids that don't go the first night. Organizations rarely take a kid that got cut that did not show up first night. If you were on another team the year before and got cut other teams will look at you. It is weird but just the way things are. I would not try out for a longshot for fear of missing out on another team. My comments are for Tier 1 tryouts only. Tier 2 is different and most orgs will take what they can get since they are short players every year. So if your dream is to play for PHC but know it is a long shot, you should know you will most likely end up on Hurricanes AA.

Any team worth playing for in tier 1 is already picked. And tier 1 org with a prep team will take anyone if you are willing to pay.
