It’s a shame the EJ league is a money grab and wears out players that play in the high school league.  It’s more ice time sure but at what cost.  The majority them play both EJ and DVHL then burn out.  Look at history those teams that do both, they never finish strong.  They collapse in playoffs and on top of that some of those players play high school and really drop off.  But coaches will burn out players and find replacements easily.  Always some parent out there trying to get their player to the NHL!!!!

When do the DVHL declarations  come out? I’m curious to see how many all-03, or mostly all-03 teams will sandbag and play down in national A and not play where they belong in national AA.

The DVHL projection list has been out for the past couple weeks. The petition meeting is this Thursday. Official declarations have to be in by next Monday when scheduling begins. I could be off a day or two, so give or take.....

At tryouts the clubs determine the number of players they have and how many teams they project to field at each level. They might place a team or teams at a higher level after tryouts. Normally those teams will play a few summer scrimmages or tourns against teams at said level. If they play well, normally they stay there. If they don't play well and the coaches believe the team cannot compete or aren't ready for that level they can petition down. At which point when the petitions are approved the original team projection(s) is null and void.

But what about age considerations.  A team of all or mostly 2003's would not purposely sandbag and volunteer to play in a division against what they know will be all of mostly 2004's and want to play against kids a year younger them them, would they?  Even if the idiot coach decides to do that, what fair-minded 2003 parent would stand for that and allow their 03 to play in a 04 division?

Where is the projections list?
Only the clubs receive them from the DVHL and they don't make them public. If somebody has one and would like to submit it, they can send to [email protected] and we'll post it.

Having a team of mostly 2nd years doesn't mean they are AA calibre players.

Agree.  There are 2nd year players that are not even A National or A level players period

Also agree, a lot of clubs mix 2nd year B and A Amer/Nat players to make 1 A National team. Just because they're all 2nd year that doesn't automatically qualify them as AA level.
