So the plan is no checking but there will still be some sort of contact so how does that protect you from Covid.  Is it sort of like if you have a beer with food you are safe but just a beer you can get Covid thinking????

There's either hockey or no hockey. Kids are in close contact in every other aspect of the game. Are you elimination face offs as well?

Guest:
stop making sense.  soccer is ok, but hockey is not because of contact?  so remove the "contact" all good lets play

Guest:
My son doesn't care he just wants to play and we couldn't agree more. Get it done whatever works.

PA Governor's Order says kids much distance during play and in practices. This is why USA Hockey and Hockey Canada have been suggesting 3x3 and 4x4. Adding no checking would make sense. Incidental contact is far different from intentional contact (football, hockey, lacrosse) meaning intentional body checking. All these sports are supposed to be playing with fewer players on the field and changed rules. If they aren't they will eventually get shut down. Heading this off and saying we'll play no checking, 4x4, in-rink scrimmages shows we're being proactive and will be the thing to save the sport for the kids this fall and into winter. Checking increases injuries by over 60% at any level you add it so that means we'd be keeping kids out of ERs and urgent care during an already busy fall for the doctors and nurses. If people are going to say hockey is all or nothing, they're going to get nothing. Which would be a shame for kids.
