Hey 401k- D1 LAX here. You must have played BB division if you did not lose by 10 goals. Quebec used to be AAA only, when it was a great tournament. Now, just a watered down money grab!

401k - D1 LAX dude, is the money grab from the local teams or the Pee Wee Quebec organization itself? In your opinion, are there any legitimate teams from this area? Which teams should be avoided? Trying to understand options (and if it's worth the time and money) for next year. I've heard mixed, but mostly positive things about the experience. Thanks

If you have the money and want to spend it that is your business. For me the tournament is overrated and not worth it. Older son went, had a good time, but he did not play top level. Could have played on season team and played better competition. Younger son will not be going! Good luck!

Money grabism has infected the vaunted Quebec 12 yr old wackathon?
Good.  It should not be a thing - to "identify" prodigies at age 12 - bad idea, bad for people, bad for hockey
the world is run by C students, remember that.

Everyone thinks their kid is the next superstar, when in reality, 70% of the kids playing quit at 13 and  88% of the kids that keep playing wont play beyond HS. So I guess parents either want their kid to have fun or think their kid is so good they could play in hockey. If spending a week in Quebec during February and sitting in an ice rink is your idea of a good time, then go right ahead. My family and I choose to spend our money vacationing to Europe, South America and spots in US all for the price of 1 week playing in Quebec. Not saying our choice is better, just saying my oldest son was recruited for a Quebec team and once we saw the cost, we said "thanks, but no thanks" What ever floats your boat. Good luck in Quebec, just keep your focus on fun and don't put too much pressure on your kid!

What does this tournament cost these days? I stumbled upon the website and noticed that in addition to AAA, there is AA Elite, AA and then BB. At what point do parents learn that their team wont be AAA?

Who cares! Watered down tournament that is a shell of what it used to be. This tournament and Brick are ridiculous. Both have alumni that played in NHL, but that is just by accident and volume of players. They are still just kids and 95% won't even play past high school. Puberty makes these tournaments mean nothing! Save your money and put it towards skating and privates! Stop chasing the idiots that think Jimmy and Jane will play in college or the pros!

Maybe it's just me, but playing hockey is fun. And playing hockey with your friends in a big arena with a large crowd and teams from all over the world sounds like even more fun.

We'll never know now, will we?
The situation where the player's father, who also serves as a coach, lacked faith in his son's abilities
and felt compelled to involve himself in the decision-making process suggests that the player
probably wouldn't have earned a spot on the team purely based on his skills and performance.

We do know now. That player should not have had been on the team. Average skill, no effort, bad attitude. On top of that parent's behavior was embarrassing.

This father is a coach?
