CanAM Lake Placid for 2 is about $1500 which really isn't that bad considering what's included. My son's end of season tournament in Raliegh last year cost a little over $1200 between hotel and food for 2. Lake Placid gets more unaffordable when adding more people. When we went my son and I stayed with the team and other family members stayed at a hotel about 15min away. Yes they weren't able to get the dinner and other things included with the tournament but they got to see him play in Lake Placid, the opening ceremony, dog sledding on the lake, the bobsled and other things. Siblings, grandparents, aunt and uncles from our family and teammates families all stayed at this other hotel and they said they had a great time together. Most went to dinner together at night, some even carpooled to the rink.

Placid is the best tournaments around. It is more expensive but if you take advantage of the included amenities, opening ceremonies, gondola ride up the long jump, whiteface mountain, the museum ect. It is well worth it. If you treat it like a regular away tournament sitting in your hotel you will be disappointed.
