AAHA Quebec Tryouts

Yeah PHC 2012 team is not very good this year. Last years team was just ok and got smoked by JrF in playoffs. Not sure PHC players are what you want. JrF yes, but you need to pick a team and not just the best players. If you pick just best players, most don't pass and we get our a**es kicked. As a birth year, 2012 does not have the 2010 or 2009 talent, or even the 2011. I would pick a team and then go up and play like one. Not this carry the puck and shoot crap!

They should be building a team that actually plays hockey. JrF have a few very good kids that carry the team. They would be much better if they played as a team. Most of them weren’t passing this weekend, because that’s all they know. But I’m sure many of them will be on the top team, just like last year.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t purpose of District tryouts to place kids in AAHA Player Development program, not win PW Quebec tournament??

Guest:
AAHA is a joke just like Quebec team. Kids good at PW are good because they are bigger, not because they are more skilled or talented. A fast skater who is 4'10" has a tough time keeping up with a kid 5'4'' because of stride length. By taking big kids you are limiting the smaller kids chances to make it when they are 15-16 and are bigger/stronger and able to keep up with the kids that were bigger at younger ages. Too many kids slip through the cracks, get discouraged and move on to another sport. Things need to change!

The AAHA isn’t in the business of figuring out someone’s genetic future. They have no idea how big someone is going to get. But, just like in any sport, size does matter. Just because someone is taller at a younger age doesn’t make them less skilled than the shorter PW player. They do a reasonably good job of picking the initial players they want to put in the Player Development program and then adding and subtracting players as they mature over the next three years.
