Stupid. Two words for you: Cup stacking.

Since I don’t have a dog in the race, I will say, USA hockey is like everything else. Let anyone coach and teach kids the wrong way of doing things so they can get their money. Checking and body contact should be allowed at any age. But it should be taught to be used to gain control of the puck. As a previous coach, if I had a player check or hit just to hit someone I would pull them and explain that I don’t tolerate gone hockey. There are a lot of good coaches out there, it only takes a few to screw things up. And USA hockey, from my experience doesn’t care as long as there is a paycheck.

We noticed in our EJ showcase this past weekend that the refs with the current certification 19/20 USA Hockey patch, were more aggressive in calling the new rules and issuing 2 & 10’s. However, the majority of the refs at the games still had the 18/19 patch and were not calling any checking penalties.
