A Blow Out Win To Start The First Of A Four Game Weekend

Lion's coaching staff going over the game plan Friday night against Salisbury.

After almost a full month of practice it was time to get a look at the progression. It didn't take long for the boys in blue to shake off the rust.

ASTON, PA. - The IceWorks Complex hosted the "Pre-Season College Showcase" which began game play Friday night. The showcase is designed to give DVCHC teams an idea of what each will look like when the regular season begins in October. The Lions kicked things off with the first of their four game schedule against the Salisbury University Seagulls from Maryland.

Just about five minutes into the game, the Seagulls struck first on a blast from the right point which found its way through a maze of players camped out in front of Lions goalie Logan Hanek. The Seagull lead wouldn't last long though as the Lions made a ferocious come back scoring 4 unanswered goals from the sticks of Jake Petras, Nate Feaser, Kyle Jenkins, and Tanner Pressley to finish the first. While Jeromy Porubski did not factor in on the scoresheet, he provided admirable support screening the Salisbury goalie on three of Harrisburg's goals, in addition to generating the opportunity for Petras on the first goal by taking out the defender on a play for the puck on the boards inside the Seagulls offensive zone. Springboarding linemate Jake Petras to an unimpeded shot which snuck by the Gulls goaltender putting the Lions on the scoreboard first.

The second period would be much of the same from the Lion's offense, as they scored 4 more to blow the game wide open making it virtually impossible for the Seagulls squad to mount a comeback. Second-period goals were scored by Cam Moore off of the opening draw, followed by Will Tissue, Tanner Pressley with his second of the game, and Tommy Olson. The Seagull's offense was stymied ending the second without adding any goals.

The third period settled down a bit without much fanfair, the Lions would score 2 more from the sticks of Cam Moore, his second of the night, and Jake Loiacono scoring his first. The game ended 10-2 with a Lions 38-24 shot advantage. Logan Hanek notched his first win between the pipes.
