At what point does a player get a year suspension
Topic: October 22, 2019, 10:43:38 PM
So at what point does the LIAHL punish a player a repeat offender for dangerous hits. I have been watching YouTube videos of Great Neck bantam over the past 2 seasons and I repeatedly see the same player going over the line and hitting from behind, elbows, dumping players without the puck. Basically playing over the edge and intimidating over and over. In the latest video he sent a kid off in a stretcher, threw 2 un-penalized elbows, had several borderline late hits (new rules state they should be a penalty). And then he boarded another player from behind that got him thrown out with a major. All this happens as he returned from a 2 game suspension the game before (and yes there were dirty hits in that one too). What is the line? Does it take a kid getting paralyzed before something is done?

So this is the problem with social media. Anyone can make accusations with incorrect facts and start false rumors. First I will say that said player has not  been on bantom team for 2 seasons. This season just started. Second FACT is that no player was ever taken off ice on strecher. Complete lie. Third FACT is said hit was clean as referee was right there and clearly said good hit keep playing. Fourth FACT said player did not get suspended for any hits the game before. It does sound like you are frustrated with officiating and rules on youth hockey. Hockey is a contact sport and parents should realize maybe if there kid is on the smaller side and may not be able to take a hit as per the rules of USA hockey that maybe they should play at a less competitive level. Mistakes happen that why there are penalties.
To say hits are intentional is sad. Further more it would be great if corrected you post with facts and not complete bs rumors.

Facts! really. Said player #7 was on Bantam tier 3 last year. He returned to Bruins bantam tier 3 against Aviator (I believe 2nd game of season) from a suspension that happened last year. 1st shift took a penalty for hitting an Aviator player from side/behind hard enough to send player flying into boards (legal last year, not under new USA checking rules this year). As for a ref claiming it is a clean hit play on so it is over. Not when you videotape every game and post on youtube. That allows other teams/coaches/parents/league to review it and file complaints. I was not at game but have been told player was "boarded" off the ice because of shoulder (UBI) injury and went to hospital. Video cuts off. In 3rd period #7 was called for a 5 minute major for checking from behind and given game misconduct. Kid does something over the line every game, so much so that the parents doing the commenting on the videos laugh and joke about when is he going to get in trouble again....

And yes hockey is dangerous I get it. But headhunters have to and should be taken out of youth hockey games. And USA's hockey rule changes on checking are trying to eliminate the head hunter

here is a link to game, let's let others decide

This league has enough officials to run 3 man for this crappy bantam hockey? Good for them.

That hit in the first period is the definition of boarding
Rule 603 | Boarding. (Note) Boarding is the action where a player pushes, trips or body checks an opponent causing them to go dangerously into the boards. ... (b) A major penalty plus game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who injures an opponent as a result of boarding.

59:44 was the CFB in the 3rd period.
Good call by ref for 5 + gm

This is not on the officials. They call the game in front of them. If he is a serial offender it is on the league.
Many leagues have rules regarding multiple GM penalties.

USA Hockey has rules on progressive discipline. At the 5th major penalty for one of the covered majors, a hearing is required and then it's on the affiliate to take whatever action they think is appropriate.
