Governor specifically targets hockey rinks
Topic: December 12, 2020, 12:14:00 PM

Skating rinks and hockey facilities specifically mentioned in new governor's order FAQ:

https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Guidance/Targeted-Mitigation-FAQ.aspx

How should skating rinks or hockey facilities operate?
All in-person retail businesses serving the public within a building or defined area in the entertainment industry including skating rinks and hockey facilities are prohibited from operation. Additionally, all organized athletic contests, competitions, scrimmages, and practices regardless of what they are called, with the exception of professional and collegiate sports activities, are prohibited.

Funny story  :-X - my hockey player tested positive for Covid after his team broke the bubble for Thanksgiving and his coach's in-laws came to Thanksgiving dinner: uncle was an asymptomatic carrier and infected billets, coach and rest of the family. But sure, it's the rinks that needs to be shut down. (son is fine; had 2 days of headaches, one day of low-grade fever - was looking for a testing facility to get a negative test so he could get back on ice with his team when everything shut down)

Where is USA hockey in all of this? Ohh thats right, all they care about is collecting your registration fee. Its USAHOCKEY DOT COM... not DOT ORG. They are watching their sport die a slow death. They need to step up here, but they wont. What are the rink owners doing? I hope they collectively sue the gov. This is going to snowball, and if they survive this, expect a massive increase in ice time cost, tuition  costs will go up by 40 percent and drive people away from the sport, and will eventually close more rinks because there are just no one to fill their ice slots.
