13 skaters 2 goalies through PW is best. Bantam usually add 2 skaters for 15/2. 16U and older 18/2. Unless your are PHC and you roster 18 at banatam, 17 at PW. More AAA and AA teams are rostering 18 at PW & Bantam. This way clueless parents pay for the extra letter and their 4th line and 3rd pair D kids play 5 minutes a game. When will parents learn the so called "best teams/best rinks" are full of sh*t, recruit kids for AAA & AA (don't develop) and only want your $$$$$$$!

Whose money do they want, the top players, or the kids on the 3rd & 4th line?

I have always found less players the better the kids work together

They want the 3rd & 4th line kids money. Top 10 players on some teams get 90% playing time while other 5-8 kids sit on bench. This is what top teams do. Those bottom line kids should move on to a lower ranked AAA team where they will get top line minutes. Development is what matters, except at PHC & other teams of their ilk. They just recruit better talent, push aside kids and trap them in their AA teams. Beware anything you are promised by TB or other hockey directors that only care about wining!

That’s an unfair characterization. Almost every team in AY rosters 18/2 at Bantam not because they want the money but because of injuries as checking starts. Every 2012 team in AY has been hit by rash of significant injuries except for PHC.

This is BS. They want 18 for $! The price goes up at Bantam and those 3 extra players bring in an extra $20K+. Injuries are happen, but if kids are taught the correct way to play and check, then injuries are minimal. This is why checking separates the good Tier 1 kids from the pretenders!

That’s why Hollydell needs to go outside their own rink, they are too busy with 15 kids on mite teams to develop their own talent. Look at the 15s and 16s how many Hollydell developed kids on those teams??

Where are you getting these numbers from? Yes price goes up but my kid plays 2012 in AYHL and the price difference from last year was $500. No way does 3 kids=$20k from PW to Bantam. If they just wanted money they could have added players at PW. It doesn’t matter how well kids are coached to get ready for checking, injuries happen, A LOT. Literally only 1 Bantam minor team has its full complement of players. Everyone else has MULTIPLE players out hurt.

15/2 is a solid number for peewee and below. Truth is, more often then not the game day roster is missing someone. I would bet every team is missing someone about 80% of the time. Under over for a team playing more then 10 games with a complete roster is pretty small.
