Conversely, some organizations don't hold up their ends of the "contract".  The almighty contract = almighty $$ and not real interest in your kid.   I don’t like corporate bullies taking advantage of 17-20 year-olds and their families. The club can promise the moon and deliver a pile of poop. Call a business a business.  It’s clearly not about the development of my son. The politics in travel will ruin a kid's interest.

Have to agree, people pay lots of money and if the team they play for does not hold up its end of bargain, or the coach is "lost" you move. My son was lost in politics last year, essentially benched at times for no reason. Moved and he is a 1st line player on a better team. The years kids can play are short, you have to find a situation that is best for your kid.

At all levels, especially below bantam, seek out he best coach and follow them. When they have nothing left to teach your kid, move on to the next coach. No one knows everything, so seek at new coaches that teach different methods.

We left because our son had an opportunity for better coaching at another rink and wasn't a huge fan of the new coaching regime coming in at previous rink.  And better comradery and kids for our son to be around and grow with. The season is also a little cheaper at the new rink than at the previous one.

All good reasons to make a move.  It's not a cookie cutter situation.  What works for some might not work for others.  But moving for better coaching, better opportunities, and/or a better team environment always makes sense.
