From what our organization was told we are free to enter any tournament we want. Why would you be limited to just the showcases? We played BB teams in tournaments this year that were not a showcase.

Got nothing so giving thumbs down as your great rebuttal 😂 our club also played multiple bb teams in tournaments twice in Pittsburgh, and once Washington DC. Our club is going AHF next season and we are doing 2 tournaments and showcases.  This year we did 3, huge difference😂

"forced"

say good bye to attending tournaments you want, you will be forced to enter "showcases" at Big Bear Rinks

Showcases for who?  For the Bear to make $$$

Exactly.  And when a showcase event gets cancelled because of an issue at the rink (legit safety issue at Ice Land in Hamilton) don’t expect those games to be made up.

AHF sells the drama. They “showcase” lower level players so scouts will find them. They send out self-praising press releases ad nauseam. They brand everything as “elite” or “premier”. And by keeping it to their own rinks, they take away the coolness of visiting new and exciting rinks.

Showcases are NOT tournaments. Nothing differentiated then from regular games. Team parents still keep score.

AHF has some good ideas and maybe they’ll get there. But they need to focus on improving the experience and perception, not the publicity.

Why does everyone believe AHF means no tourneys?  Showcases remove the need for non-league games to fill in the schedule, but it does not mean teams can't play in a tournament.

Simply because that is what the DVHL clubs are telling their parents keep them from leaving. I heard it from my sons scholastic teammate's dad, I just laughed.

I call bs...... showcases traditionally are sold as scouted events which they not. Nobody is coming to watch tier2 kids play hockey not even the local colleges much less against teams in their same league. Most if not all individual clubs enjoy the flexibility and chance to play outside their league against teams wherever they want to whenever they want not by being told they have to play in a showcase against the same teams all in the same rink owned circuit on their companies predefined showcase ice availability schedules.

As far as tourneys are concerned....... DEFENDER HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS!!!!! You're telling me BB isn't going to push their own teams to play in their own tournament system? Hey PA teams go play in our tournament in CT or MD. Because thats what Defender is.

While I agree that the showcases will be against other AHF team from what our club was told you won't play teams in your division. The AHF is broken in 3 divisions North, Central and South and the showcase will be used to play farther away teams that aren't on the division schedule, we will see. As far as defender, BB may force teams in their rinks that way this coming season, but we played Grundy in 2 myhockey tournaments this year so maybe not.

Won't DVHL be pushing EJ on their clubs to actually get enough games on the schedule?  The way I see it there is no difference other than AHF has their "EJ" schedule built in, DVHL will have to join EJ to get some quality non-league games, DVHL and AHF teams will play each other at the normal tourneys.

Absolutely, they are using that as well. Some of the DVHL clubs are even putting the EJ logo on their post and website. I only answered the question on why people believe AHF teams means no tournaments. Honestly if our club would tell us that we wouldn't be able to do tournaments I'd look elsewhere. Traveling 3+hrs to stay in a hotel with your teammates is a huge part of travel hockey.
