It makes no sense at all.  First no one stated DVHL changed the rules.  Really it makes no sense in how it is handled.  In reality Delco should no have had a chance in a four team play off it should be single or double elimination.  Lancaster, had two loses to be eliminated, Team Philadelphia had two loses to be eliminated.   Delco had a lose and Blazers each have one lose yet the Blazers are eliminated.  To stated Blazers had an advantage in playing one less game is silly.  There were 5 days between games.  This is basically no difference between one team over one weekend playing and another playing two games and those two teams meet the following weekend.  Delco moved on based on the rules and great for them.  However the issue is the horrible way the DVHL has one system playoff base format for all levels to move to a district level.  Ridiculous

I would reach out to the league to see what they say. Don't be an ass about it, Just ask for clarification why it is not double elimination like the other levels.

Agreed-it doesn't matter as it turns out...
But playing DVHL advocate, the season was played to determine a league champion and team most deserving of advancing to districts - that was Genesis without debate. 2nd place is rewarded with the easier (hypothetically) first opponent - Blazers defeated Team Philly. The other 4 teams were playing for a chance at a districts-advancing game which Blazers and Delco both earned (regardless of number of wins/losses over that weekend). Both teams had a great season and earned the right to play that game but only one could win. The format makes complete sense and was published well in advance.

Again, no one is debating whether it is published or not...so lets stop bringing that up.

The most sense is one of two ways and not the way the DVHL is currently doing it.

1) Straight up double elimination ... this might add a game to the current setup

2) You lose you are eliminated. So in the example 1v4, 2v3, winners move forward to play each other .. winner take all. So if $ was the issue this eliminates 2 games
