Owners wouldn't let it happen, and the AAHA needs a way to continue their revenue stream. Without them there isn't any. There needs to be more oversite and standards in place. The current standard of "if you have money and can pay your way, you're in" doesn't work.

It used to be as long as you had an AYHL charter you had T1.  Then the AYHL made a competition committee to put teams on probation.  Then they eliminated certain clubs at certain birth years based on performance.  Some owners didn't like this either, but it happened.

The AAHA gets their revenue stream by "the amount of players", not who plays T1 or not.  So the district could do this just like they make EVERY AYHL T1 club still apply annually for their birth year T1 rights.

The bottom line is just like the USPHL created change a few years back, somebody or some clubs will decide to go AAU and challenge it legally that they can call themselves T1 regardless if the district says they can or not.

Or clubs can leave the district and start their own league.  USPHL Jr teams left USA Hockey and college coaches still look for players in their Jr leagues so why not on youth?

You gonna tell me if you took the top 4 clubs overall in the AAHA and they added 1 or 2 from the Southeast district and 1 or 2 from NY district, Connecticut, Mass, etc... that would be a super league and they can call it AAAA and people would do it. And if they all agreed no expansion unless a club was voted out bc of their lack of competition.

Base it on competition, not $ or the good ol boys club and these problems will go away.

travel hockey is a waste of time and money.  the same outcomes could be accomplished without traveling all over the state/region.  But, there are enough a-holes such that the status quo will never change, only get worse.  how much money do you spend, as a team, traveling around, staying in hotels, etc, etc, etc.  how much more could your kids get out of hockey if those dollars were directed toward real development or localized play.  oh, there is not enough talent for little jimmy to be challenged?  f you.  move to canada.

God I LOVE HOCKEY.. series that tells the story of a medieval country's civil war. ... When the story begins, a decade-long summer is ending, and winter looms as teams battle to claim the "Iron Cup," the seat of the king of the Seven Kingdoms, the regime that rules all but the northern tip of MA. who here think NETFLIX should make a series about youth hockey? 😂

Outside of T1 where the travel is completely out of hand, how many T2 teams are "staying in hotels" more than once a season? I'd say 75-80% of T2 teams do either none or 1 trip that requires a hotel stay. What's the harm in that?

I would say most do at least 2, sometimes even lake pla$id.  Add up the numbers and see what else you could do with that much coin, as a team.  T1 forget it, so much more could be done.  Like what? f you.

Is beating a team by 7 goals really that big of a problem that the District needs to spend its time trying to solve it? Not that it could solve it, it's inherent in sports and it happens in every league. Look at USPHL games you see beat downs. ECHL? Beat downs. Ontario AAA? Beat downs. You can't have teams with a 80-90% win percentage without teams with a 10-20% win percentage. Sure, you can trim down the league until only a handful of kids remain, but will that grow the sport? Does that help kids enjoy the game more? Does it give kids more opportunity to develop? One thing's for sure, trying to help the 80 or so kids at each level in the 4 teams you propose to avoid beat downs would increase the beat downs for the thousands of kids in Tier 2.

As Guest #25 said, (minus the fU part) most do at least 2 but often do as many as 4. This isn't including the supplemental showcase leagues. This is a pretty accurate reference, (link below) for financial expectations for each playing level. Tuition for tier ll club normally starts around $1,800 give or take based on age group. and can wind up being as much as $7,000 after final calculations when the season is complete. Tier 1 vs Tier ll Hockey A to Z - More Bang For the Buck?

It isn't necessarily about beatdowns and beating a team by 7 goals the big problem, it's the watering down of the highest level of youth hockey.

Growing the sport is great, but diluting the elite level is not good for the for the growth of the sport.  Bigger(growth) does not always mean better!

Does that help kids enjoy the game more? The kids should enjoy playing regardless.  I know the elite level kids would enjoy close, tight, good competitive games more.

Does it give kids more opportunity to develop? You develop your skills in practice, lessons, etc...  You also develop against good competition.

Once we solve the T1 issue then we can focus on the beat downs for the thousands of kids in Tier 2.  It would make AA level stronger again like it used to be.

It's not an improvement adding a tier 1 American level. That league is A players who paid for the right to say they are playing tier 1.
