Apartments to replace Wintersport Arena?

Lower Moreland Township recently posted a zoning board commission announcement on Facebook in regards to Wintersport Ice Arena being flattened and replaced with 3 - 4 Story apartment buildings.

If anybody has any further details please comment.

Confirmed. College Town Communities, LLC will purchase and raise Wintersport Arena replacing with housing.

They must be offering a hell of a lot of money given the rink is only two years removed from being bought and have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of improvements put into it.

I heard the lease is up and it's not being renewed next spring.

You’ve heard very wrong!!! I was told they have it for many year still. And that’s guaranteed

The guy who owns the Royals and Wintersport is the one who has the lease with BCI nobody else. It is up in 2020.

I thought they were holding off on renewing the lease until they figured out what was happening to Wintersport. The curling club has their BCI lease for another few years. I don't see the royals' term going beyond that.

There were talks of converting bci to cold storage.

Must not be a lot of money in running a rink 🙁

Like was mentioned up in this thread,  the Royals move to BCI

Basically,  sell WS to developer and build apartments for Penn State Abington students. Dave Sheer recoups cost to buy and renovate WS. Negotiate new lease at BCI rink 1 for Royals. Wildcats lease ends after this season. Genesis goes Hatfield-only after this season.
