COLMAR, PA - It was much of what you would expect from two teams defending their unblemished records. The Pennridge Rams hosted the Council Rock South Golden Hawks last night in a premiere showdown at Hatfield Ice of the two remaining undefeated teams in the SHSHL. In the end, only one would leave the ice with a perfect record and ownership of sole possession of first place. Coincidentally that team would be the same team who entered the game in first place, Pennridge, as they skated away with a 7-3 win over the Golden Hawks.

Shane Dachowski (3), and his high-scoring forward line of Andrew Savona (2), and Kevin Pico (1) made up all but one of the goals on the night. The Golden Hawks had no answers for Montagna's first line which scored relentlessly on the power play as the Golden Hawks continued to commit non-sensical penalties which put them in the position of having to play shorthanded for pretty much most of the second and third periods. I had mentioned in a separate segment yesterday that this game would come down to composure and whoever would maintain it would win, my foreshadowing was apparently spot on. Council Rock didn't disappoint, CR South committed an abysmal 13 penalties which left their goalie in a position to more or less fend for himself. That's not what would be considered a recipe for success but I digress, to each his own. Council Rock South made this game look a lot easier for Pennridge to win than it should have been. Pro-tip, if the Hawks aim to be in the postseason competing for the SHSHL, and Flyers Cup titles they're going to have to figure out how to stay on the ice and in the game. When adversity strikes, they've got to find a way to play through it, successful teams do not win games by spending more than half of it in the penalty box.

Pennridge goes right back at it tonight against Sean McGinty's Central Bucks South Titans, I would expect a completely different approach from McGinty's squad and the Rams will have their work cut out for them to maintain their undefeated first-place record. It will be interesting to see what the Titans have in store for the Ram's as this should be another "must" see game!
