Team going to CanAm this season. First time. Heard mixed reviews. Anyone have any advice or reviews? Is competition even? Food? Hotels?

Been 1x. AA team. Hockey not great. Better at league level. Team won tourney by 3+ goals every game. Food terrible. Hotel ok. Plan on spending 3x what normal tourney costs. Overpriced shopping and food. Food included but so bad ate out 2 meals a day. Coupon restaurants sucked! Costs were outrageous. My entire team agreed if had do over, go different tourney.

Went twice. Once at AA and once at A. AA competition was tough because a few AAA teams entered and we struggled. A level was better and team got to finals. Hotels at AA were bad, but we learned and tried to register early next time. Hotel at A was better. Food is bad at both hotels. We ate out for all lunches and dinners both years. This upped the costs significantly. Overall I would say our experience was mixed. Was it worth it? To see my kids play on Miracle Rink, yes. Did my kids feel the same way? No. They just wanted to hang with their team in the hotel and play hockey. After we came back, none of the kids talked about the game in Miracle Rink. They talked about their knee hockey games in hotel. Could have done that anywhere at 1/3 the cost! I would say the experience was more for the parents than kids. Oh, one more thing. We had to fund raise which was a pain in the ass. Having to hit up friends and family to pay for your kids sports trip was embarrassing. I still get shit from my siblings and friends. Especially since my one son no longer plays hockey. Money helped, but was wiped out two times over from food costs. Good luck!
