Games vs Practice

Just saw on Holydell website that the PHC 2013 AAA team played 76 games and Hurricanes 12UAA played 77 games. This amount of games is insane! USA Hockey ADM recommends the following:
10U AA/AAA- 80 practices & 25 games
12U AA/AAA- 90 practices & 35 games
Now I am not saying that USA hockey is god and they should be followed 100%. However, PHC may get 100 practices per year and with 76 games that is 176 times in a year on the ice. Hurricanes may get 80 practices and with 77 games that is 157 times in a year on the ice. Factor in private clinics, power skating, summer camps, etc and these kids are on the ice 275 times in a year. That is way too much. Other States do not run their hockey programs like this. Minnesota, the best State for hockey may have their kids on the ice 200 time max, with way more practices and fewer games. Hollydell is nuts for doing this to their kids and should have their rink looked at by USA Hockey and the Atlantic District.
This has all started since 2019 when you know who was fired. I bet we will not see any Hollydell or PHC kids making the pros again due to this crazy way of building a hockey player. The best athletes make the pros. Hollydell is building great youth hockey players that fizzles out by 15. Get the kids off the ice and playing other sports. Then at 15 focus on hockey 100%. Hollydell has sold families a bill of goods. Just look at the PHC & Hollydell teams and how average they are at the older levels (15U & up).

They don’t fizzle out at 15U. The have been developing good players that leave for hockey academies and prep schools. Midget hockey in this area is a dead end.
PHC has had over 10 D1 commitments in the last 2 years. Few kids will be draft this year. You should probably get your facts straight before posting.

How many of those 10 PHC players going D1 were actually brought uo through the PHC/Hurricane program? I best most came from other rinks to play Midget in UDPHL and EHL. Anyway, poster was lamenting amount of games played at younger ages. No other sport at young ages play that many games. This is why hockey prices out best athletes! So many games = higher tuition. Other rinks play just as many games. It is just yhat Hollydell attracts the craziest of parents. It must be something in the water down there as Clearview lacrosse parents are just as bad.

Is is PHC/Hurricanes players that came up through Hollydell program or players in the PHC USPHL/EHL program that came from other rinks that went D1?
My point is not to single out Hollydell, as other rinks are playing the same amount of games. It is that this is not how a hockey player is made. I bet the kids going D1 spent way less time playing games coming up and practiced more, while also playing other sports. I see some Hollydell kids play nothing but hockey year round. I see some dabble in lacrosse while also playing Spring & Summer Hockey. The young player (14 & under) need to get off the ice and play other sports to develop their athletic ability. It will only help in hockey. Playing year round is not helping any of these players.

Every D1 committed player was a product of PHC. None came from other programs and none were in their junior program at any time.
EHL doesn’t produce any D1 players. D3 players at best come from that league. Hollydell is no longer affiliated with USPHL but NCDC is the same as EHL, D3 players.
Its easy to come on these forums and sound like an authority but you clearly have no understanding of how junior hockey works or the landscape beyond the birth year your child plays.
Btw “you know who” didn’t get fired he quit.
