The amount of hockey experts on this page is truly impressive. Please post your name and number so I can have my child play for you next year, I’ll even bring the iPad for the YouTube drills.

Who are claiming to be experts? In general, we have a collection of well connected folks here who drop a lot of important information that can be used to help make the best decision on where to play your kid(s)...

Everyone worried about JH bring people in, you can’t add more than 2 tier 1 players to an existing team

That’s not the rule. Not sure where you got that information. Teams can add as many new players as they like. You can only take 2 players from another tier 1 roster.

At Tier 1 level you can add new players as follows:

2 new Tier 1 players total (not team)
4 tier 2 players total

It is the 2/4 rule in AAHA Rules and Regulations.

Tier One up up your *ss! Read and learn idiots!

This link is for those 12 year old & younger parents who think their kid is "Elite". Watch this and really listen. There are 2 lines that I like best. "There is no suck thing as an elite 12 year old" and "If everything is elite is anything elite?". The guys on the podcast are scouts, ex-pro & college players and they talk about no one will no anything until kids hit puberty. Right now the top 2-3 players are any under Bantam Tier 1 hockey team are very good because they are usually bigger and older than other players on team. You are all sheep!

Tier 1 at the younger ages is about developing culture and progressing skills and work ethic. A lot of these podcasters say this but don’t follow their advice.  Brian yandle from the “rink shrinks” podcast says that aaa at 10-12 isn’t necessary all the time,  but guess what his kid plays it and has since he was 9. They’re one of the top teams in the country and he totes that often.?.. There is a difference between not being necessary and being bad. If you can afford to have your kid play at the high level and if the kid has the skill why wouldn’t you? It would be like saying don’t teach your kid to swim until he’s 13/14 because that is when their chances are higher to make the Olympics. Honing skill and playing at your ability level should be the focus regardless of letters.
In the same breath there is a lot of talk of flyers youth kids leaving jh team to go to igloo at the 2013 age level. They are playing a hybrid aaa/aa schedule this year, going to the ahf is a huge step down these kids would be better suited on a thf aaa team. Wins over development is the problem in hockey way more then tier1 vs tier 2. Take an honest look and see where your kid will get better and be challenged!

ML from play hockey bashes aaa all the time to parents looking to leave flyers youth. But ask yourself how many tier 2 kids play for his above puberty age teams when they enter a team in a PH tournament. 0 that’s how many if he really believes kids develop the same at tier2 there would be a lot more orange striped pants wearing pH jerseys in the spring and summer

How often is that rule actually enforced?  I see teams violate the 2 Tier 1 player rule all the time.  Specifically the Junior Flyers.  Heard they pay off the orgs for players.
