You have no clue as to why I posted what I did and how I feel about responses. Sometime posting crazy comments is the best way to get responses. I love it too!

Just because someone played the game for 10 years does not prove they know the rules. Penalty shots- missed all the time. Icing waved off when it should not. Off side called because ref is in a terrible position to see. Goalies getting hacked because ref in bad position to see if puck is covered. Checking called when player is making play on puck (body contact is allowed). Hooking rarely called. High Sticking rarely called. The list is endless. With all this being said, I do agree the coaches should address it and parents should stay quiet. However some refs (not all) are so bad it would be better just having the kids make the calls themselves. Everyone focuses on parents and coaches abusing the refs, but why are the refs getting abused? Because they are bad refs. We have had games with seasoned refs and young refs who are fantastic, no yelling and the kids love it. But we have too many games with inexperienced refs that make the game dangerous and kids go crazy and take matters into their own hands. What can be done to improve the refereeing?

Best thing to do to get better refereeing is to stop being an a-hole (not you specifically but all parents and coaches).  Missed penalty shots!   LOL.  The refs are quitting because people are a-holes.  Maybe they will stop quitting if everyone stops yelling and being a-holes.  Just a thought.

If you are a parent who yells at the ref, your kid, the coach, and the other parents wish you would not attend games.  You are embarrassing your kid - his or her teammates are laughing at you in the locker room.  They are also laughing at the coaches.

Be better, get better.

For the love of the game please pull your kids out of ALL organized sports. No matter what the sport is or the level they play you will have missed calls, bad calls and unhappy people crying like a little beoch. I have umpired baseball, reffed soccer and ice hockey for years and the parents are just getting worse and worse. Guess what, calls are missed, get over it or lace them up yourself. Even the pros miss things and they have 4 on the ice or field, not just 2 and sometimes 1 like we work with.
Officials need to start tossing parents, coaches and mouthy kids. Last month I tossed 3 parents for banging the glass celebrating a check from behind that left a kid with a looked to be a for sure concussion. As long as parents behave like this so will the kids and nobody wins.

What club did the 3 parents that you tossed belong to?

I'm really not sure. My former college teammate invited me to help out in Pittsburgh because of the multiple tournaments going on that weekend, they were having a hard time finding officials. It was an ATC Thanksgiving Tournament and going by the language used after I tossed them; I'd say Canada.
