Stay to Play Tournaments

How closely do tournament organizers monitor who stays at the "required" hotels? Anyone know of tricks to avoid this (cancel last minute, etc), or do they have us trapped?

(doesnt need to be a thread on how the profits are ruining experience for kids, just want to see if anyone has tips haha)

I've seen it 1 time where a team was called out for having the required % stay that is needed to play. They allowed the team to play but they were automatically put in the last seed and out of medal contention.
If you know someone isn't staying at the team hotel when booking your room have the hotel note that said player is staying with you. I have done that a few times for teammates and it always worked.
