Do You Support A Tracking And Reporting System?

Author Topic: POLL: Youth Hockey Brawl Leads To League Wide Reporting System  (Read 5073 times)

Description:

In a MASS Hockey tournament 2 weeks ago a brawl broke out at the end of the game between 18U New England Knights and Tewksbury's Boston Jr Rangers. What triggered the brawl is still unknown.

It was a close game ending 3-2 but what ensued at the final buzzer left one scratching their head. In the corner two opposing players came together and traded punches which lead to both benches clearing. The altercation moved toward the doorway where it eventually spilled over into the stands. A Boston Jr Rangers player chased down a Knight player throwing punches until parents got involved from both teams. In all 4 parents have been permanently suspended from MASS Hockey events. Charges are being filed and it has yet to be determined how many players will also be disciplined for their parts played in the post-game nonsense.

WHAT'S NEXT?

In an effort to address issues of what they consider unacceptable parent and spectator conduct directed at officials and players, Massachusetts Hockey said they have created a new reporting system.

The online reporting system will allow people to report violations by parents and spectators as part of the organization's zero-tolerance policy.

The action comes after a brawl in Tewksbury two weeks ago between parents and players.

Massachusetts Hockey said it will share any information with the appropriate league and program administrators to address matters involving parents and spectators.

This system is not intended for reporting any on-ice incidents involving coaches and officials. Those are handled by the on-ice officials by a separate system.

Massachusetts Hockey said in a statement that "the rink should be a place where players, coaches, officials and parents can enjoy the competition of youth hockey free from verbal abuse."

completely unecessary when is enough enough with police state and big brother constantly watching. Punish the parents and suspend the players and be done with it.

Every person in the stands should be held accountable if they did something. Bans works but more technology based databases are not the answer. There's a camera everywhere in the rink already.

"What triggered the brawl is still unknown."

Looks like the kid tripping the goalie is what triggered it....
